About Coach Zeus
Owner and coach of E3 Coaching Madison, Zeus was raised in Janesville, WI and was a three - sport athlete in high school; soccer, basketball, and track. He lettered in Varsity as a freshmen in the 400 meter dash, was a team leader in all three sports, and earned academic scholarships leading into college. He earned his Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and has a Masters of Science in Counseling from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater. While he likes to play hard ball, he's also very understanding of the athlete's needs. But rarely does he tolerate whining!
Coach Zeus says he models his coaching after Coach K from Duke University Basketball; "I like to know why the athlete does what he/she does. I want to get inside their heads, push them, yet I expect the athlete to possess a sense of accountability." As a USAT certified coach, Z has led athletes to successful finishes in 5K's, Ironmans, and everything in between.
Through a decade of coaching and racing, Zeus has qualified for Age Group Nationals three times, 70.3 Worlds and has qualified for the Boston Marathon. Outside of E3 and full-time coaching, coach Z works as a therapist specializing in counseling couples, families, teens, anger management with adult men, anxiety and depression. He can also be found eating steak tacos at almost any time of the day.
About Coach Bill
Bill Doyle is very excited to start his fourth season with E3 Coaching. Bill is a USAT Level 1 triathlon coach. During the winter months Coach Bill is a part of the coaching staff at Wisconsin Indoor Cycling. He has trained and competed in triathlons for the past 10 years. Distances in which he has competed have been anywhere from sprint distance to full ironman distance. His favorite distance to train and compete in is the 70.3 distance. Bill moved from Chicago prior to living in Verona, where he trained at one of the ten nationwide USAT Certified Performance Centers. Throughout the year Coach Bill is a Physical Education Teacher at Verona Area High School. He also coaches the Varsity Boys Soccer team at Verona Area High School, that recently won their first state championship. Coach Bill is extremely excited to share his knowledge on the sport of triathlon, and to be a part of your journey through health and triathlon!
About Coach Jake
Jake is eager to put the lessons that he has learned and knowledge that he has gained throughout his 20 years of endurance sport training into practice as a coach with E3 He signed up for his first triathlon-an Ironman 70.3-before he could even swim one length of the pool has since completed triathlons from sprint distance to Ironman 140.6. His favorite discipline is running-both on trails and on pavement-and has competed in 20 marathons, including four times at Boston. In the winter months, Jake enjoys downhill and cross country skiing whenever possible.
When he isn't training, Jake is a husband and dad to two young kids and an executive director in the golf industry. Accordingly, he understands what it takes to balance life's many obligations while chasing personal aspirations. Having been involved as an athlete with E3 for several seasons, Jake has seen firsthand the power of community within the group in helping both veteran competitors and newbies accomplish dreams that they may have never thought possible, and now as a coach with E3, Jake can't wait to help athletes chase their own goals, whatever the distance!
About Coach Taylor
Taylor’s path to triathlon began in 2021, building on a lifelong love of swimming that started when she was six. She has nearly a decade of experience in coaching youth swimmers, with local summer & rec teams in the Madison area as well as back in Maryland, where she grew up. Taylor is passionate about helping athletes have fun while developing their skills as well as confidence not only in their sport, but in life.
Outside of triathlon, she works for a youth-serving nonprofit and is dedicated to empowering young people to reach their goals. Taylor’s goal as a coach is to create a fun and encouraging environment where every athlete feels supported and inspired to challenge themselves to new heights.
Taylor recently raced 70.3 New Zealand in December of 2024 and 70.3 St. George in May of 2025. Both being very challenging courses.
About Coach Jack
After moving from Colorado to the glorious Midwest to start a Master’s in Applied Exercise Science at UW, Jack is incredibly excited to coach athletes individually and lead group classes such as Masters Swimming at MGHS, Wisconsin Indoor Cycling (WIC), and the yoga and meditation class RecoverE3. Jack caught the bug after doing a 70.3 as his first triathlon, which sparked an insatiable thirst to learn everything he can about endurance training. He has since competed in sprint and Olympic triathlons, recently placing 3rd overall in the Olympic, and 4th in his age group at the Wisconsin 70.3.
When he is not training, you can find him reading in a hammock along the lakeshore, zipping around town on his vintage Cannondale R800 (AKA Dale, pronounced “Doll-ay”), or adventuring in the mountains hitting cliffs on his snowboard, dirt biking, or rock climbing. Otherwise, he is in his happy place, giggling like a madman as he runs and bikes, softly gurgling as he swims.
Taking a holistic approach, Jack is eager to share everything he knows to shed light on what good training looks like, meeting athletes where they are and helping them get to where they want to be.
About Ali
Hi all, I'm Ali and I'm the Admin for E3! I joined E3 in 2024 while training for my first 5th half Ironman. After completing IM WI, I knew I wanted to stay involved in the E3 community, so during my break from training I took on the role of Admin! Outside of triathlon, I work for Meriter as a nurse in the birthing center. On my down time, I hang out with family and friends. Can't wait to train next to you all this season as I plan to do another 70.3. Catch me in the back of WIC or running at SPE3D!
